A fixture in the surf world for over 21 years, professional surfer Kelly Slater was presented the Key to the City of Huntington Beach on June 21, 2011, the first day of summer.
On May 8, 2010 the United States House of Representatives honored Slater in H. Res. 792 for his "outstanding and unprecedented achievements in the world of surfing and for being an ambassador of the sport and excellent role model."

On Wednesday, November 17th, the city of Cocoa Beach unveiled a 9 1/2 foot-tall bronze statue of the ten-time world champ right on A1A. Mayor Skip Beeler also declared November 17th as "Kelly Slater Day".
